Community Hike at Debs Park
We kicked off our summer with a hike at Debs Park in early June. This was a fun, casual way to spend time with our neighbors, invite a deeper connectedness between place and community, and reflect on our relationship to land.
Our morning started at the Audubon Center, where we learned about the center’s work as a community hub for environmental justice. During the hike, we shared our personal connections to Northeast LA and the unique talents we each wanted to offer our community. Folks shared their passions for foraging, herbal medicine, printmaking, bringing people together through music, and creating safe spaces. We look forward to future gatherings and cultural celebrations where we can share these resources with more of our community.
Stay tuned for details on our next community outing. If you’re interested in hosting one or would like updates, reach out to miguel@mas.la.
